Rev. Fr. Thomas Vithaythil CMI, the senior most Professor Emeritus of Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bangalore, was called to eternal life on Friday, August 14, 2020, at 05.00 pm. His funeral will be held at St. Paul’s Carmel House, Thandavapura, Mysore, on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 02.30 pm.
Fr. Thomas, with a Master’s in Psychology from Bombay University and a Doctorate in Philosophical Anthropology from the Gregorian University, Rome, served Dharmaram College, the Mother Institution, and Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK),for almost half a century (from the 1960s to the Year 2020) in various capacities, like the Professor at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram and Christ College, the First Director of Vinayasadhana (DVK), Section Master and Spiritual Director at Dharmaram College. In addition, he held various other offices at Dharmaram College, like Director, LCA; Light and Sound; Water and Electricity; Bursar and Procurator; etc. Fr. Thomas was ‘all in all’ for Dharmaram Community.
His charming face, snow-white hair, elegant and dignified behaviour could cast spell on the students in the class rooms, on the formees in the formation houses, and on the clients during the counselling/spiritual sessions. Above all, Fr. Thomas Vithayathil CMI was a happy, authentic and holy religious priest, who was an inspiration and model for his coborns (koodapirappukal) and students. Definitely, Dharmaram Institutions, neighbouring communities and parishes will miss Fr. Thomas Vithayathil, when in need of prayer, general knowledge and practical wisdom’, and surely we will miss his jovial and witty company.
May the good Lord grant Fr. Thomas Vithayathil, our guru and mentor, eternal bliss along with His chosen people in the Kingdom of Heaven! Let us beseech the intercession of Fr. Thomas, (probably) the patron of spiritual directors, for Dharmaram to be formed after the Scared Heart of Jesus! +RIP
